The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue (1974) - Easily the most entertaining of the Italian-Spanish zombie epics, this particular film was released under 15 different titles in various markets. The most famous is the English-dubbed "Don't Look In The Window" - which was the primary inspiration for Edgar Wright's fake trailer of "DON'T" in "Grindhouse." Whatever title being used, it's a must see. Four Star.
The Northman (2022) - Robert Eggers' historical epic is a hallucinatory tale of folk horror, vengeance and fate. Filled with Norse legends, witches and magical creatures, Eggers frames the Viking legend of Prince Amleth the Bear Wolf as a blood-filled horror film. Four Stars.
Fade To Black (1980) - Dennis Christopher stars as a bullied film fanatic who cosplays his favorite characters to commit a string of movie-related murders. Tim Thomerson, Mickey Rourke and Peter Horton appear in supporting roles. Three Stars.
The Lords Of Salem (2012) - Rob Zombie's The Lords Of Salem is the filmmaker/musician's best movie of his career so far. Forgoing his usual hellbilly grindhouse approach, Zombie instead pays homage to atmospheric international horror. Produced by Jason Blum, with a haunting score by John 5 and excellent performances from the cast, the film centers on a coven of satanic witches and a mysterious vinyl record. Supernatural shenanigans ensue. Four stars.
So Vam (2021) - The feature debut of 18-year-old Australian transgender filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay delivers campy carnage and a playful view of vampires in pop culture. Makeup artist & drag performer Xai sparkles in the lead role. Three Stars.
May (2002) -Lucky McKay's bloody and brilliant psychodrama stars the captivating Angela Bettis as a lonely girl who just wants to make a friend - Frankenstein style. Candidates for good parts include Anna Faris, Jeremy Sisto and James Duval. Four Stars!
Drop Dead Gorgeous (2020) - This absolutely fabulous drag-tacular horror gem features sassy slasher tropes, beautiful bloodshed and gorgeous gore FX. And scream QUEEN Linnea Quigley graces the indie production with a surprise cameo! Three Stars.
Hard Rock Zombies (1985) - The rock may not really be all that hard - and the movie is full of ghouls rather than zombies - but hey it tries to be funny. Emphasis on tries. Heads roll, a werewolf woman attacks, Hitler comes out of hiding, a town boycotts rock music, a band acts like they're in an a music video when there's no cameras around - and a mysterious woman dances through scenes as if she's in a musical. Right on! Three Stars.
The Munsters (2022) - Rob Zombie's colorfully campy prequel to the classic TV sitcom is a groovy ghoulie monster mash filled with lovable character performances and stunning art direction. Munsters Rule O.K.! Four Stars.
1BR (2019) - Eager to start a new chapter in her life, a young woman finds her dream apartment at an exclusive Hollywood apartment complex. Little does she know, her neighbors have very different plans for her. Three Stars.
Unfriended (2014) - Credited as the first feature film set entirely on a computer screen, Levan Gabriadze's groundbreaking horror flick centers on a group of teens being terrorized via Skype and social media. Is it the work of a hacker - or a vengeful spirit? No spoilers. Four Stars.
