A longtime fan of the Parker series of crime novels, I've seen and enjoyed all of the films inspired by the books, from Lee Marvin's Point Blank to Mel Gibson's Payback. The latest heist flick, simply entitled Parker, stars Jason Statham as the singular thief and closely follows the written source material admirably. Statham plays the hard-boiled antihero a little more audience friendly at times, but by the bloody end he's all business. Jennifer Lopez shines as a street smart sidekick to Statham's mission of vengeance and financial compensation.
