This Ain't No Slumber Party - Sorority House Massacre

By Brent Snyder

Sorority House Massacre (1986) is a routine slasher written and directed by Carol Frank, who was assistant to the director on the vastly superior Slumber Party Massacre.

While not a sequel to Slumber Party Massacre, Sorority House Massacre is considered part of a shared Massacre cinematic universe. Like Slumber Party Massacre, Sorority House Massacre would spawn two sequels - and both trilogies would be packaged together in a Massacre franchise box set.

Even though it's not as great overall as Slumber Party Massacre, Sorority House Massacre is filled with clever winks at the audience. My favorite is a shot of the kids watching Slumber Party Massacre on video - and the scene onscreen is Robin Stille watching a slasher movie on TV.

Oh and there's a Friday the 13th Easter egg too. I can imagine the producer saying "I know we're shooting at a sorority house, but is there anyway we can have some kids getting killed while having sex in a tent?"
